School Consultation
School consultations are designed to support one particular student’s educational progress or a classroom of students’ progress. The consultations are meant to be collaborative between the current multidisciplinary educational team at the school and the consultant. The consultations may be designed to specifically address particular questions or educational concerns or include a more comprehensive assessment of individualized educational plan design, student learning, data-driven decision making, optimizing teaching techniques, and team approach to educational intervention.
Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan Development (BIP) – Current thinking regarding challenging behavior recognizes the success of an intervention depends on understanding why a student responds in a certain way, and teaching the student a more suitable method of getting that same need met. The process of uncovering why a student responds in a particular way is called a functional behavior assessment, or FBA. Conducting a FBA is the first step when starting to create a behavior support plan, and it helps all caregivers to understand what factors in the environment influence behavior. We provide extensive FBA’s using cutting edge instruments to provide norm-referenced and criterion referenced based rating scales specifically designed to identify target behaviors, suggest potential underlying functions of the behaviors, and provide a broad-spectrum mental health screening in nine specific categories based upon current DSM criteria.
Program Development
The program development service is designed to work collaboratively with the professionals at existing or future program sites to incorporate empirically supported educational practices for students with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
Home-based Services
On-going consultation services are available to families seeking home-based ABA programs. We, offers both local and distance consultation. While families may hire independent staff to work with their children, our model focuses on training parents who are committed to participating in and implementing effecting teaching strategies to help their child reach their highest potential. Active parent participation is mandatory for consideration of this service model. Treatment plans address cognitive and behavioral skills, with emphasize on developing positive social-emotional relationships, as well as communication, functional life skills, and adaptive behaviors. Goals and learning objectives are created in collaboration with families. Treatment plans offer specific interventions and strategies in easy to understand language, yet are evidence-based for use by parents and other caregivers. Treatment is provided for children with an autism spectrum disorder or with related social or communication needs and is based on many empirically supported treatments. We incorporate the discipline of applied behavior analysis and the knowledge and understanding of typical child development in creating individualized programs.
Note: All services use proprietary tools, assessment instruments, and data collection protocols.
